Breaking Point
During wintertime, the three lakes surrounding Madison (WI) are in a state of limbo. They are frozen yet very alive beneath their surface, which is further signified by the eerie sound of the water moving underneath. Ice cracks are formed in early March, represent a sign of resurrection. Whatever lifelike lies underwater has the urge to emerge or simply justify its presence by pushing the ice to its breaking point. In this battle of transition, the revelation of death is also very apparent. Anything that was trapped between the ice layers is now on display, as a reminder of how life and death are tightly interconnected, if not the two sides of the same coin.
